Facebook announced that they’ll be releasing OUR profiles to the public internet, opposed to only allowing registered users to browse for names.
What does this mean for you? Assuming you don’t change your search privacy settings, you name and pictures will now be indexed by ALL search engines (Google, Yahoo!, MSN, etc.). So, while it may not be a big deal for some people (I personally don’t care if I’m indexed in Google’s database since I already am), a lot of people will not want to be publically searched on the internet.
Does this pose a security threat for young students? That’s a debate in itself.
